Iconography Presentation at the College of St. Joseph the Worker

On May 7, 2026, I had the honor to present a set of 14 icons at the College of Saint Joseph the Worker, in Steubenville. The icon set is the Stations of the Cross for a Roman Catholic church in Iowa, and the they were requested to be explicitly in the iconographic style. The presentation was originally prepared for the audience of the parish in Iowa, Saint Pius X Catholic Church, but I modified it to better address the audience at the College of St Joseph the Worker, and Steubenville at large. The presentation revolved around my thoughts regarding the direction of contemporary iconography, starting with the most basic question ‘what is an icon?’

A friend of mine was very generous to record the talk with his equipment, but we missed the audio quality. Forgive me for that! I hope the thoughts I share in the talk are helpful for you.
